VTOS Program Overview
The Vocational Training and Opportunities Scheme (VTOS) is designed to prepare you for employment, whether you are changing direction or just starting out. We have a range of full-time courses that will help you to develop in-demand and practical skills in areas such as; Business Studies, Management, 3D Animation and Digital Multimedia Production, Health Service Skills, and Community Health Services.
The constructive method of our courses and dedication to personal assessment makes VTOS the ideal training path for anyone wishing to up-skill for a new job or to enter the workforce for the first time.
Our Goal
Our goal is to equip learners with both the confidence and technical experience to pursue their career of choice. Our 1-2 year full-time QQI accredited courses lead directly to employment and/or to progress to a number of further education or third level institutes with confidence and competence. Our professional and supportive staff team are ready to help you to achieve your goals.
Supports
Our many supports, which include travel allowance, meal allowance and the National Childcare Scheme (NCS), make it easier for you to immerse yourself in full-time study and work experience.
Eligibility Criteria
If you are over the age of 21 and have been receiving social welfare payments or signing for credits for at least six months, or are dependent upon someone who is, you may qualify for VTOS.
You are eligible for VTOS if you are: aged 21 or over and

- In receipt of a Jobseekers Allowance/Benefit or
- Have been signing for credits for at least six months or
- Are a dependent spouse of an eligible person or
- In Receipt of a One-Parent Family Payment, Disability Allowance, Illness Benefit or Invalidity Pension for at least six months or
- Are in receipt of a Blind Person’s Pension, Deserted Wife’s Benefit, Widow’s/Widower’s Contributory/Non-Contributory Pension for at least six months. *Conditions may apply.
WHERE?
Newbridge VTOS is located on Station Road which is within a short distance of the busy town of Newbridge and all the amenities and opportunities it has to offer. The centre is in close proximity to the train station and bus stop.

WHEN?
We intake students twice a year, in September and January, however applications are accepted all year round. Our courses are all full time at five days per week (one day of work experience) and you may receive a VTOS Training Allowance throughout your time at Newbridge FETC on a VTOS course.
